Polaris, or better known as Grand Daddy Purple, was bred specifically for its potent psychoactive effects that blanket both mind and body. Polaris is an Indica-dominant strain that manages to deliver a heavy feeling of full-body relaxation and cerebral euphoria that medical patients appreciate for nighttime use.
Knowing this, I was very excited to try these capsules. I’m a big fan of edibles, and I thought this was going to be a great alternative. At 10mg each, these were going to be just what I needed to get a good night’s sleep without the added calories. I waited until a Friday night when me and my couch had a date. I took one of the capsules and patiently waited. About 30 minutes later, I didn’t feel anything, but I did burp a horrible tasting cannabis flavored oil. This continued for about 20 more minutes. That night, unfortunately, indigestion was all I experienced. The next day I reviewed the label and realized that these capsules are only 3.6% THC. This is a very low percentage, and as a result, these capsules are not going to give you a euphoric, psychoactive effect you might be looking for the Grand Daddy Purple.
The next day, the indigestion continued, and my stomach was obviously bothered. I called Fluent to find out what else was in the capsule, and they said it was the same MCT oil used in the other products. I was surprised, because it was the same oil used in the Doma Capsules, which did not bother me at all. For whatever reason, my stomach did not like this strain or oil. It may have been the absence of CBD, or the terpene Ocimene, that set it apart from the other oral methods I tried from Fluent. Again, this product may work for others, but I will not be taking any more. Luckily, I was able to buy a sample pack and not the full bottle.
The terpenes present in this strain are B-Myrcene and Ocimene. B-Myrcene has demonstrated sedative and motor relaxant effects. There are preliminary studies that say Ocimene has the potential to suppress the production of several different inflammatory substances emitted by the immune system. Further research indicates that ocimene may help treat symptoms of diabetes by inhibiting the proliferation of key enzymes.
While this capsule is not for me, it is a nice option for someone looking for a very low dose of Grand Daddy Purple. It may help someone sleep better, or relax just a bit at the end of the day.
