The M.O.R.E Act Explained

💥Learning Sesh!💥 If you are over the age of 21, grab your joint, bong, dabs, vapes, edibles…whatever herbal refreshment you want to enjoy while we learn about all things cannabis! Today, I’m talking POLITICS (don’t worry, it’s not that type of conversation). You can tell political policies, i.e bills, acts, Senate and the House aren’t really my thing and I’m not as comfortable talking about them as I am cannabis. However, cannabis is STILL federally illegal, and people sit in jail for the same thing others are making millions from. As an MMJ patient & conscious cannabis consumer, it’s something I have to educate myself on and I hope you feel the same…so let’s learn together!

In this sesh, I’m talking about the very important M.O.R.E Act (Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment Expungement Act). This act was supposed to be voted on by the House 2020, but it has unfortunately been postponed until after the election or early 2021. (*UPDATE* The house has voted and passed the M.O.R.E. Act, now it just has to pass the senate.) This act would end cannabis prohibition and decriminalize cannabis on the federal level. It has huge, positive implications for people who served time for federal, non-violent cannabis charges or are currently sitting in prison for weed. The Act shows how much public & political opinion has changed on the subject of cannabis legalization & marks an important step forward in addressing the past & ongoing harms of the war on drugs, which continue to disproportionately affect communities of color.

Enjoy!
